2010 Mustang Debut with Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Here is a look down the hood of the 2010 Mustang Vaughn will be driving. The car is back at Falken getting put in it’s traditional Falken Teal/Blue team scheme for PRI next month. The car’s front end is more aggressive to the point that I say it fits Vaughn Gittin’s personality way more. The car is looking to have a much more aggressive stance than the old Mustang.

Moving over to the wheel/tire setup it doesn’t seem like much is changing. Vaughn is moving to these white HRE’s for the 2009 season. They are still 18’s like the old car although I felt they looked much smaller than the blue ones which were another style. Vaughn will of course be on the Falken Azenis as well. Basically not much is going on in this area from what we can see.

While this looks far from the OEM 2010 Mustang interior I like the simplicity of it and the clean switch board. Also, the MoTec is mounted for some quick access for the crew. This seems like a great move for Team Falken and Vaughn has a long e-brake to grab.

The rear of the car is the ugliest part of the new Mustang in my opinion. However the car looks good from a side profile glancing at the back but straight on it just looks a little strange. The side plate window above the Falken logo is where Vaughn’s fuel intake is as well. His fuel cell is sitting right there in the backseat area with a tube going straight up to it. The doors are dry carbon and super light to help shed some pounds on this beast.

This is the part of the car that scares me and I think is the biggest deal. Vaughn Gittin has been running an all motor Hasselgren engine and that is no out the window. They are going back to more of an OEM platform with a Ford Racing/whipple blower and a fairly stock motor. Taking notes from two time champion Tanner Foust perhaps, simple with bolt-on induction? The one thing that does scare me is that Vaughn has had so many problems with superchargers in his car before. Belts slipping was a plague of the past and in Formula D you cannot afford to DNF at one event and win a championship. I chatted with Vaughn and he assured me they have figured out for now but it will be something to keep an eye on for 2009.

The 2010 Ford Mustang unveil took place at the Santa MonicA Airport last night. The entrance way you can see in the above picture was for the 2010 Ford Mustang debut. While airing live on Speed TV Vaughn Gittin Jr. came ripping through the curtain in his 2010 Mustang.

Vaughn ripped it around the airplane hanger for a while until two other 2010 Ford Mustang. He really put on a show for the Ford watchers and people who were in attendance. After some Drifting seat time he pulls away as two new GT Mustang’s come flying out from the black curtain. Then Vaughn comes back out and parks his Falken Tires Ford Mustang right in front as the show on Speed continues.

Vaughn also brought out an old body Ford Mustang to give drifting demo’s all weekend. The few people who were lucky enough to get a ride along with Vaughn Gittin Jr. all hopped out with a huge smile on their face. Stay tuned to the Wrecked blog as we are going to break down the 2010 Ford Mustang that Vaughn will be driving and the major difference we have noticed which was under his hood………..a Ford Racing supercharger, 2009 is going to be insane!
